The film industry has a market size of roughly 30 billion dollars in India. Fictional literature has a market size of around 10 billion dollars whereas therapists and emotional coaches make up to 20 billion dollars approximately. What do they have in common? Emotions!
And we were taught emotions have no market! Well, we are already being sold a lot of emotional products. I have not even counted the advertisement industry which uses emotional hooks as key drivers to convey their messages.
You think only financial frauds can scam you? Well, we have been prey to emotional scams for centuries. Scams we never heard of and scams we were never taught about.
Want some examples? Attraction is the most common emotion people fall trapped in. Lust is another one. Anger and inferiority complex are few more that I can quickly count on.
Next time observe your emotions in every social setting, in every conflict, in every repetitive thought, especially in impulse purchases and conflicts.
Watch those emotions passing away for a few days or weeks before you act up on them.
We feel our thoughts are ours, whereas, in reality sometimes they are the product of our environment or the content we regularly watch.
The truth is every emotion has a value attached, sometimes in terms of financial cost, sometimes in exchange of time and other times in lieu of experiences we want or don’t want to experience.
So emotions definitely have a market! Try to make sure you are not being scammed….
